Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Telekova (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects your personal data when you use our service or visit our website at https://telekova.com. We provide a premium subscription service giving access to live TV and on-demand movies & series, streamed over the internet to your own devices using a compatible media player application.

Because we offer the service to customers in the United Kingdom and Ireland, both the UK GDPR (by virtue of UK GDPR Article 3) and the EU GDPR (by virtue of EU GDPR Article 3(2)) apply to our processing of your personal data, together with the UK Data Protection Act 2018 and the Irish Data Protection Act 2018.

1. Who we are

The data controller responsible for your personal data is:

  • Controller: Telekova
  • Email: contact@telekova.com
  • WhatsApp: +44 7916 687698

If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, please contact us using the details above. We have not appointed a Data Protection Officer, as we are not required to do so; data protection queries are handled directly by us via contact@telekova.com.

2. The personal data we collect

We collect and process the following categories of personal data:

  • Contact details — your WhatsApp number, your name and your email address.
  • Setup information — details of the devices and the compatible media player application you use, which you provide to us so we can set up and deliver the service to you.
  • Payment details — information relating to your one-time payment for a subscription term. Payments are handled by our third-party payment processor, Donorbox; we do not store your full card details on our systems.
  • Communications — the content of messages you exchange with us (for example over WhatsApp or email) for support and service purposes.
  • Website-usage and advertising data — information about how you interact with our website, collected via cookies and similar technologies, including through the Meta Pixel, where you have given your consent. See the Cookie Policy for full details.

3. How and why we use your data (purposes and lawful bases)

We only process your personal data where we have a lawful basis under Article 6 of the UK and EU GDPR. The sections below set out each purpose and its corresponding lawful basis.

Delivering the service and providing support

We use your contact details, setup information and payment information to set up, deliver and support your subscription, to communicate with you about your account, and to process your payment and any refund. Lawful basis: performance of a contract (Article 6(1)(b)) — this processing is necessary to provide the service you have requested and signed up for.

Marketing and advertising measurement

We use the Meta Pixel and any Google advertising or analytics tags to measure the effectiveness of our advertising, to understand how visitors find and use our website, and to deliver relevant marketing. Lawful basis: consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — these tags and cookies are only activated where you have given your consent, and you may withdraw that consent at any time.

Security and fraud prevention

We process certain data (such as usage and communication records) to keep our service and website secure, to detect and prevent fraud and abuse, and to protect our customers and our business. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — our legitimate interest is protecting the security and integrity of our service and preventing fraudulent or abusive use, balanced against your rights and freedoms.

4. Who we share your data with

We do not sell your personal data. We share it only with the following categories of third-party service providers, who process it on our behalf or in connection with the services they provide:

  • Meta Platforms — for the Meta Pixel and Conversions API (advertising measurement, where you have consented) and for WhatsApp messaging.
  • Google — for advertising and analytics tags, where these are used and where you have consented.
  • Donorbox — for processing your one-time subscription payments.
  • Bunny — for content delivery (serving website and service content efficiently).
  • Resend — for sending transactional emails relating to your account and service.
  • Our website hosting provider — for hosting our website and supporting infrastructure.

We may also disclose your data where we are required to do so by law, or to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

5. International transfers

Your personal data is processed outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area (EEA), both by us (as the operator is based outside the UK and EEA) and by some of the service providers listed above.

Where we transfer personal data outside the UK or EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards to protect it, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and the UK’s International Data Transfer Agreement (or the UK Addendum to the Standard Contractual Clauses), or, where applicable, a derogation for specific situations under Article 49 of the UK/EU GDPR.

You may request a copy of, or further information about, the safeguards we rely on by contacting us at contact@telekova.com.

6. How long we keep your data

We keep your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which it was collected:

  • Account and subscription data — kept while your subscription is active and for a reasonable period afterwards, so we can deal with support queries, refunds, disputes and our legal and accounting obligations.
  • Marketing and advertising data — kept until you withdraw your consent or object, after which it is deleted or anonymised.
  • Communications — kept for a reasonable period to provide ongoing support and to maintain a record of our dealings with you.

When determining retention periods, we consider the amount and sensitivity of the data, the potential risk of harm from unauthorised use, the purposes of processing, and applicable legal, tax and accounting requirements. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

7. Your rights

Under the UK and EU GDPR you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

  • Right of access — to obtain a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — to have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
  • Right to erasure — to have your data deleted in certain circumstances (“right to be forgotten”).
  • Right to restriction — to ask us to limit how we use your data in certain circumstances.
  • Right to data portability — to receive certain data in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format, or to have it transferred to another controller.
  • Right to object — you have a separate right to object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and to object to direct marketing at any time.
  • Right to withdraw consent — where we rely on your consent (for example for marketing and advertising cookies/tags), you may withdraw that consent at any time. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it, and does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before withdrawal.

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at contact@telekova.com. We will respond within the time limits required by law.

8. Complaints to a supervisory authority

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your personal data, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority:

  • United Kingdom — the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO), at ico.org.uk.
  • Ireland and the EU — the Irish Data Protection Commission (DPC), at dataprotection.ie.

We would, however, appreciate the chance to address your concerns before you approach a supervisory authority, so please consider contacting us first at contact@telekova.com.

9. Cookies and the Meta Pixel

Our website uses cookies and similar technologies, including the Meta Pixel and (where used) Google tags, for functionality, analytics and advertising. Non-essential cookies and tags are only set where you have given your consent. For full details of the cookies we use, please see our Cookie Policy.

You can also opt out of interest-based advertising through the following industry tools:

  • youronlinechoices.eu
  • aboutads.info/choices
  • Google Ads Settings

10. Children

Our service is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at contact@telekova.com so we can delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal requirements. Any updated version will be posted on this page with a revised “Last updated” date below.
